Help me identify this sound coming from a pile of wood I keep near the fireplace

Hello,

I am in the canton of Vaud and I keep hearing this noise. At first, I thought it was a drippy faucet, but I have traced the sound to a pile of wood that is near the fireplace.

I have tried moving the pieces around but cannot see anything visible… please advise.
