I wonder if US still bothers spying on EU. After all European Commission is quite happy to hand-deliver its documents directly to NSA
>*The EDPS has therefore decided to order the Commission, effective on 9 December 2024, to suspend all data flows resulting from its use of Microsoft 365 to Microsoft and to its affiliates and sub-processors located in countries outside the EU/EEA not covered by an adequacy decision. The EDPS has also decided to order the Commission to bring the processing operations resulting from its use of Microsoft 365 into compliance with Regulation (EU) 2018/1725. The Commission must demonstrate compliance with both orders by 9 December 2024.*
Am I reading this right? The European commission either has to migrate itself entirely off O365 between now and December, or it has to get Microsoft to agree to EU data protection laws for its data? I can’t decide which of those is more unlikely.
This is just hilarious 🤣
Why would you even use Windows for security-critical communication? Your data is leaked to Microsoft (and their AIs) by default.
Use Linux. Even a crappy Ubuntu is better.
Use Debian if you want a more stable system. (Older=more tested software compared to Ubuntu).
Use FreeBSD that is much more robust just because it is developed and tested as a single system.
Use OpenBSD if you are extra paranoid. There is ZERO proprietary code, every instruction is visible to you. It is meant to be really secure.
But hell no, you are accustomed to send meetings invitations in Teams, so you would rather compromise the security of European Union instead of learning an other “stupid” and “ugly” system.
The EU has created a bunch of laws that are so vague and unclear that the EU itself is unable to comply with them. Yet people still call bullshit when you claim these vague laws hinder EU innovation.
How.
They should use Linux and other FOSS, even developing their own suits would be cheaper than renting MS software.
Let’s switch to Linux
The EU should take ownership of some open source project and develop it instead of paying big greedy corporations that have the word “privacy” only on paper
