  1. > Emissions from Russian wildfires in June and July were higher than for the preceding two years, and fires in the region of Amur Oblast led to the estimated release of 17.2 megatonnes of carbon for the two-month period, the highest in 22 years.

    > Canada has also had some of its highest totals on record, with total carbon emissions of 11.1 megatonnes and 13.2 megatonnes for British Columbia and Alberta respectively across June and July.

  2. California is burning dramatically more than normal too.  The Pacific Northwest starts late compared to the rest of the world but is been very hot and dry here all of July and we’ve suddenly had a lot of fires started by dry lighting. It’s shaping up to be a bad year.
