*I admit I am not sure if it is accepted to have coaching ads in this subreddit (for instance I don’t know which flair applies here), but I will give it a try and will definitely remove it if it’s deemed unfitting.*
Briefly, I am a part-time chess coach & author and due to the pandemic all my teaching activities are moved online. Naturally, this has borne the advantage of having a more international audience (in fact most of my recent students are from Canada). However, I miss teaching locally and the local familiarity of working with people living in the same country even it’s still online, so I am trying to reserve more slots in my schedule for students living in Luxembourg. Honestly, I also look forward to having more reasonable working hours and no longer having to adjust to so many different time zones.
With that said, I currently have 2 slots for new students and the target group consists of beginners, enthusiasts with some or no experience, and players with professional goals (i.e., playing for a club and trying to hit a rating target) up to a FIDE rating of 2200.
**Format:** Currently, all sessions are still given online (in person ones can be considered if the health situation is complying), for the chess part lichess (using private studies for interactive sessions) is used and for communication Skype or Discord among other choices (Google Meet, BigBlueButton, etc). For each lesson you receive my personal lecture notes where all newly introduced concepts are summarised and lots of exercises for the themes of interest are given.Languages: preferably, French or English.
**My experience**: I have been formally coaching for 5 years now and although over the years the approach has become more methodical, two constant aspects of my teaching are the development of a coherent strategic mindset in chess and enabling each student based on their intrinsic characteristics (everyone exhibits differences in their visualisation, calculation, thinking, concentration, energy, to name a few). I have experience teaching kids (typically in groups) and adults, so no limitations in terms of age or gender whatsoever. As an author, you can check out one of [my books on Chessable](https://www.chessable.com/tactics-and-combinations-from-judit-polgars-games-volume-1-1986-1991/course/58660/) (for free just needs an account).
As a player, I have won multiple national events when I was in high school then played considerably less when other duties kicked in (such as higher education), and then there is online, for example my blitz rating on lichess is ~2500.
I have also worked on chess from a mathematics perspective with a publication regarding the state space of chess, and finally, I also occasionally use chess to teach mathematics (you may have seen some of my work at the recent Science Festival).
For a more general overview of my lessons, along with some reviews from previous students, you can read this older [reddit post of mine](https://new.reddit.com/r/chess/comments/mdb2uf/flexible_online_chess_lessons_for_beginners_and/).
For fee, this depends on the level, duration and frequency of lessons, therefore, I will be able to answers this more easily once I know the former details. In any case, any interested applicant is welcome to send a pm or a chat request and inquire further. A free trial session is often given so we get to meet and work a bit before you decide to apply for more regular lessons.
