Don’t know if this counts regarding R1 – I’ve posted because it was an SNP amendment (and relevant to recent political discussions had on this sub). But I would understand if this was removed, apologies if it indeed goes against R1.
If you’re not in favour of starving kids, there’s no place for you in a changed, reformed Labour Party.

Disappointing but not surprising from the Labour Party of “Change”.
I’m not naive – I understand the political motivation for suspending dissenters, but I don’t think ruthlessness is a great look for any government. It’s also a symptom of a huge majority, Starmer is empowered to crush even the faintest dissent without putting a dent in his authority.

The King’s Speech is treated as a vote of confidence because it sets out the government’s agenda, so MPs of the governing party are whipped to vote it through unamended. Going against that whip can result in actions such as this, as it demonstrates that an MP doesn’t agree with their own government.
Time for the annual purge of the Labour left, I see.
As the SNP clearly care about this issue, they will be making changes in Scotland surely?
People are downvoting this which is fair enough, but the Scottish Government has the power to up-lift benefits with the bedroom tax being an example. Not sure why people are upset that I asked if they are going to do that though.
And yet 4 of them are people I follow on social media.
Zarah in particular is a political godsend.
So Anus and Scottish Labour are for the two child benefit cap?
“But the polls say people support the cap”
Why bother with principles or political parties at all – just do what the polling says. Why even bother with a Parliament- just hand power directly to the poling companies!
“What’s that – polling says the people want to rejoin the EU? Can’t have that – the it is not the right time politically!”
lol.
Zarah sultana sounds like an alias for a pornstar.
The government are just in the door, facing unprecedented demographic and financial problems, and here we have the usual suspects lining up to grandstand over a complex and divisive issue.
I’m aware that the Reddit solution is “give everyone free limitless money forever and just tax big corporations!” but reality operates slightly differently.
Pathetic from Starmer. Any level of stepping out of line is treated results in immediately being purged.
I’ll be surprised if he’s still party leader in 5 years. He’s going alienate the entire left of the party who are already upset with his leadership.
It’s now Labour’s rape clause, Labour’s two child limit and Labour’s fault that child poverty continues to thrive in our country. The only change is the colour of the rosette. Red Tories now running the country.
These MPs did the right thing.
The country needs a future and more children, lest in turn into one of constant declining population like Scotland or Ireland.

7 labour MPs not Tory enough to be in Labour.
Scottish Labour voters will be happy to know that none of their invertebrate MPs voted to lift the cap! So they can all go to bed tonight knowing they got the Starmer Era off to a good start by allowing kids to go to bed hungry 🙂
They really are thick.
Tactically you could have let Scottish labour MPs vote for this, to show they had a spine and still win the vote easily.
The branch office remains undefeated
I’m glad some of them actually care. Disappointed to see only 7 people do the right thing, but well done to those that tried.
