  1. Wouldn’t light rail/tram services make more sense for other, smaller cities – can’t imagine Galway really needing this when you can walk the length of the city in ~20 mins

  2. GART, WART, CART, LART.
    Nah, doesn’t translate.

  3. be great when they call them after the places they serve.

    Wart

    Fart

    Cart

  4. Yeah he should really tell the minister for transport this…

  5. Yeah no fucking shit our cities need more public transport. What a stupid redundant statement

  6. I think for planning and feasibility purposes, a Luas would suit most cities fine, but the Dart allows you to connect with surrounding suburbs at a higher speed. I’m loath to compliment him because I hate his smarmy answers to most things, but I like that he drops ambitious ideas like this at public events as a way of getting them into wider conversations. It basically does work that his small base of TDs couldn’t do otherwise.

  7. Hopefully looks to be already happening in Cork with the double tracking and station upgrades linking Mallow (North) through the city to Midleton (East).

  8. Fingers crossed all this great new infrastructure will be finished before 2080

  9. Lets remind ourselves that the refugee hating Gain Peppers of Ireland pitch themselves against Ryan in particular.

Perhaps remind yourself of that the next time you’re stuck in traffic in Coolock.

  10. Dart West now 2 years in planning 🙄 He’s doing a brutal job at the Dart lines already in progress without thinking of other cities

  11. I don’t think other cities need extra heavy rail installed. If they’re building infrastructure they ought to build lighter rail or metro.

  12. Realistically, when will there be a luas/dart/train directly to Dublin Airport? 2050?

  13. DART or Luas. Either way, we should be building out light, electrified rail. The “way too expensive” investment will be recouped and more.
