What populism? Trump wants to make the rich richer at the expense of the people. He doesn’t have a single popular policy that would help the people of America. Everything he tried in his first term either failed, was a lie, or made America worse.
In a poll last week 70% of people wanted Biden to withdraw because of health and age.
In that same poll 57% of people wanted Trump to withdraw from the race, also. The populism is evidently fake.
Everything was better under Trump.
Facts are facts
Faker than a $3 bill.
Trump is a masterful marketer and he does well telling his followers what they want to hear.
His lengthy RNC speech, railing against immigrants and our country in decline, in his words, was painful to listen to, but this is Trump. This is not a campaign based on hope or policy. It is based on grievance and revenge and his followers love it.
First, I find it interesting that Trump continues to rail against immigrants because it is a winning tagline. But Republicans tanked the bipartisan immigration bill.
I also find it interesting that the Republican Party Platform says, “The Republican Party must return to its roots as the Party of Industry, Manufacturing, Infrastructure, and Workers.” But a majority of Senate and House Republicans voted against Biden’s bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. And a majority of Republicans voted against the CHIPS and Science Act funding US manufacturers for good paying jobs. And now these same Republicans are suddenly trying to take credit for the historic investment they actively tried to stop.
The same for Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. Every single House and Senate Republican voted No. Republicans are reaping the benefits, with companies announcing $Billions in renewable energy, battery and electric vehicle projects, aimed at expanding domestic manufacturing in clean energy and reducing dependence on Chinese imports.
It’s baffling to me. How many times can the Republicans cry wolf, vote against their own constituencies’ best interests, and have people fall for their BS?
How could it be fake? Who is faking it, all the people with red hats and flags on their boats and trucks? The media? X?
It’s very much real. To say otherwise is delusional.
It’s the donors wet dream, more than anything. They’re the capital behind Project 2025
The issues the GOP is pretending to care about are very real…and created by the GOP’s policies of the last 50 years. Cutting taxes on the very wealthy has only lead to them becoming wealthier. Mass outsourcing and the slow gutting of union protections has further consolidated wealth at the top by devaluing American labor. It has lowered the floor to the point that a lot of employers don’t even provide health insurance anymore.
This was their goal. This is the America they wanted. They made the welfare state necessary just to keep people afloat. Their next step is to dismantle the remaining social safety nets so the poor are starving in the streets so Elon Musk can tack another zero onto his net worth. Lincoln would be ashamed to have his name associated with what the GOP has become.
Trump’s support comes from those with a majority of power. Trump supporters make up the majority of the following groups: white people, people earning over $100,000, Christian. Populism implies broad support from the bottom but these are demographics overrepresented in power. The only sign of status majorly against Trump is education.
It’s fake. He’s never won the popular vote, it’s “populism” that somehow doesn’t appeal to the majority.
