  4. I mean if JD Vance was Trump’s hope at securing Ohio then it was a dumb fucking decision. We hate that guy with a passion. Plus we have our redistricting bill on the ballot this year so Vance makes two reasons why the left will be swarming the polls in Ohio this November.

  7. Apparently Trump’s campaign had made contingency plans for Biden dropping out, but that sounds like a lie because there’s no fucking way they would’ve picked Vance if they thought the race was going to be close.

    This guy is going to be voter repellent in swing states and not even MAGA has warmed up to his awkward, brooding presence.

  11. The Trump campaign straight up said they picked Vance for their base because they felt secure enough with Biden running.

    Now that Biden has dropped out, there’s a chance for Harris and her VP to pick up undecideds that had decided not to vote at all. And that’s a huge problem for Trump.

  17. I don’t care what his over/under is. VOTE, people!! Many of us were there in 2016 when this shit went down. Complacency will be what sees another Trump presidency! Yes, the atmosphere is different now. But we MUST vote. It is crucial. The positive news is good but also makes me super nervous. The “well, she’s definitely gonna win anyways so ima skip voting this year.” Crowd will be what determines the outcome of this election.

  20. I honestly think the Sarah Palin comparison is unfair to her. Palin was a moonshot to try and save a campaign that was already well on its way to losing. And for what it’s worth, that did work out for a week or two after the 2008 RNC. McCain was actually ahead on Lehman Monday, before the economy went off the damn cliff.

    Vance by comparison was born solely out of Trump’s own hubris, and inability to search for anything but pure loyalty.

    It’s even more of an incredible fuckup than it seems. That was in Vance’s hometown. Which is hundreds of miles from Appalachia. And he still tried to appeal to them with a stereotypical hillbilly drink… but the diet version, which no one but JD Vance has ever openly praised. Mixing it in with a lame joke and well, it’s the most awkward thing since Jeb!’s please clap.

I feel like picking Vance was a Hillary moment for Trump where his overconfidence running against Biden allowed him to consider other factors and make an error that will likely impact the election. For instance, protection from being a president sent to jail since his VP has much worse policies. Maybe it was to satisfy donors to bring in some large dollars. Or maybe it was to give his older supporters a younger face spouting policies that would align closely with the 50s so they believe that the country is filled with people like Vance. Whatever the case, it did not help Trump’s chances.
