Hi, I collect militaria, and was recently gifted this coat which I am considering using as a winter coat. The issue however is that the law states that:
§ 2.1. It is prohibited for unauthorized persons to use complete military uniforms or parts thereof, even if they are stripped of military insignia.
Now, my question is, assuming I'm not going around being a jackass (such as trying to get military discounts or being a prick and then justifying it by saying I am a soldier) would the cops actually do anything if they just saw me wearing this coat with jeans on during my daily commute in winter?
Alternatively, is this coat in fact still used by the Polish army? Because if it isn't it's fine to wear as far as l understand.
To answer any possible question(s):
Why?
-It's cool
-I like militaria
-it's proper thick wool, so it actually has a function beyond me being a nerd
-I got it for free

You absolutely can wear it with no problem. It’s not a piece of Polish uniform.
I wear my marine coat for formal occasions in winter
You cannot wear uniforms currently use by Army. Any historic can be used.
Nobody fucking cares mate. Im sure, that most people wouldn’t even recognise it as military coat. If someone will make you trouble, than say you are foreigner and you didn’t know
Ours Military itself sells uniforms with military insignia to an individual civilian buyer so (probably) nobody will care about you wearing this
I’ll just add that if you want collect polish militaria then buy it directly from military (https://sklep.amw.com.pl)
Yes, you can definitely wear it. If you look like an actual soldier i.e military boots, beret, trousers then you might have problems but a single piece of clothing is OK. The law is not really enforced. Stolen valour is not really a thing here.
I can’t see any problem here – there are no symbols related to historical events on this coat so it is just a coat. Once I saw a guy wearing similar but with russian emblems – it was a problem then (256th art. of polish penal code – propagating a totalitarian system).
This law isn’t enforced, do you can wear it. Anyway, this coat is currently being replace by a new pattern (just one row of buttons, not so cool like this one). You can always replace buttons, but its nit necessery. Imo you should unstich any insignia on shoulders.
