I’m currently in the USA, and I must say this place has one of the most hostile living environments I’ve ever experienced. It seems like every worthwhile destination is an oasis surrounded by inhospitable roads. When I visited downtown, it was practically deserted. This country truly feels like it lacks a cohesive culture.

My Mum and Dad just got back from a three week tour of the mighty USA. They couldn’t believe how third world it is( I warned them) All the major cities are basically homeless encampments with people injecting drugs and shitting out in the open . LA is so overpopulated it takes 2 hours to travel a mile by car. New Orleans stinks of weed wherever you go. They said the only nice place was Memphis. Plus they HAD TO TIP . Fucking shithole.
Edit: And you have to ask for them to get even basic things like Shampoo from behind the counter because they keep it all locked up, because they get robbed.

If only this would stop those “digital nomads” from coming here it would be great.

HDI is very simplified and is only made up of three metrics: life expectancy, years of education completed and GNI per capita PPP since it was originally created to scale living conditions in “third world” countries, back in the day, not to compare modern developed nations

While our median income is the 5th highest on the planet, and we accell in most other statistics as well, our years spent in education are relatively low, since many people are self-employed and start their own businesses, this puts us low on the HDI scale. If you’d go by quality of life we would be a lot higher
