Moment Putin’s warplane shot out of sky before £8.5m jet plummets to ground in fireball explosion

Dramatic footage shows the moment a Russian Su-25 attack jet was downed in a giant fireball by Ukrainian defenders over Donetsk region.

The missile hit the left wing and tail of the Russian combat plane – valued at up to £19.5 million – and it burst into flames.

Russian military sources confirmed the strike in the Pokrovsk vicinity of occupied Donetsk region. The pilot can be seen parachuting to safety.

This comes as footage has emerged of anti-Western war games between Russia and China, aimed at boosting naval cooperation between the powers.

  1. I am unconvinced this is a weakness of the SU-25. It could have been a Russian firing a missile at an F16. The reality of the war in 2024 is that it's all about drones and missiles. The reason the British won the air war in the Falklands was that they had superior missiles. If anything, the Argentinians had superior aircraft, certainly on paper, but they didn't have the advanced missiles.

  2. 2 things to note. First they aren't flying low enough, or super high to avoid such an incident. Second, they are still flying into a sovereign nation and attacking innocent Ukrainian civilians.

  3. Yay for the west's proxy war over lithium and rare earth minerals. I think people need to stop dying for the greed of old rich men tbh. This conflict is far more complex than the west are the good guys and the Russians are the baddies. Honestly, it's no wonder the ruling elite see us as livestock on the farm.
