To whoever may read that comment, apologies for the serious tone of this comment, but if you happened to have plan to come to Paris for those Olympics, please just change it, choose another destination. France is currently ruled by a totally corrupted and authentically autocratic, totalitarian regime. Democracy has fallen here. Individual freedoms are increasingly threatened. If you love France and want to help the French people, then just boycott the event so that it can be turned into a major failure for Macron and his minions in the face of the world. Please be also aware that the people who make up this regime are truly incompetent, with the mainstream media constantly covering up their blunders. For several years this incompetence has lead to an increase in violent crime in the country. It's really worrying that these people could be entrusted with the organization of such an event.

  9. This promises to be the most spectacular Olympic opening. Thank you for taking this out of a stadium and into the streets. I imagine it's quite a nightmare, logistically, but when you have such a beautiful city why not highlight it?

  23. I love the idea of the ceremony on the river. If it works it'll be a truly unique event that will stand out as so memorable in comparison with other opening ceremonies. Hats off to whoever came up with this idea. I'll keep my fingers crossed for our neighbours across La Manche to get good weather. Hopefully it won't rain like it did for the Thames Pageant on the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

  31. Is this a celebration of the athletes or a celebration of Paris! Athletes on boats many with roofs. You can't even see the athletes from what this video shows. That's what it's all about. Not promoting the city of Paris. And apparently this boat thingy starts at 8pm Paris time. BY 10pm now it is almost dark and if it is cloudy before.

  35. I just don't quite understand how they can rehearse on the river and not have the program leaked? Or the river is just boat parade and the show will still be next to Effiel Tower? Anyway very excited!

  36. Whatever you do! Boycott Support for the USA. They do not deserve it. Especially not after they & their NCAA won’t take any action on one of their Colleges that are doping their athletes. And that same doping School of theirs has a few of their alums in this year’s Olympics. Normally I would support the USA. But not this time! Not after them & their NCAA not taking those kind of actions on that vary doping college of theirs! Which makes this year’s Summer Olympics the first Olympics of any kind to where this USA gets Zero Support from me. And they have their NCAA & that Scummy Phil Knight of Nike to thank for my support for them getting this icy! And unless things change! This won’t be the last time either.

  40. Finally, a worthy opening ceremony that might surpass that of Beijing. To be fair I liked the Athens 2004 more than Beijing 2008.

  43. Guys something really bothers me about the Olympics this year. I'm kinda worried. I feel kinda uneasy.

    We live in a time that a lot of crazy things have been going recently like the attempted assassination of Trump.

    Then the continuous war in the Middle East. I know I sound silly but something just doesn't feel right.

  44. Athletes from Russia and Belarus will compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN). They will not be allowed to represent their nations with flags or anthems, and their results will not be counted towards the medal table.

    Why doesn't the same thing happen to Israel?

    What happened to humanity and justice by the people of this world??
