Hello there,
I moved to Belgium a couple of months ago.
I got a contract with Eneco. I pay around 16 cents/kWh for electricity and 6 cents/kWh for gas + Accessories costs of around 120€ per year in total.
I am familiar with the fixed-rate estimation thing, since it is the same in my country.
However, these numbers make no sense to me. Last month I used 170kWh of gas and 170kWh of electricity, let's round up to a cost of 40€ in total, yet, they say that I should increase my voorschotbedrag for the months to come.
I will surely give them a call tomorrow. But in the meantime I would like to know your opinion.
Does this makes sense to you?
Kind regards

Your gas consumption in current month doesn’t mean anything if you heat your apartment on gas. It’s during the winter months that most will be consumed. But since you currently already pay 197 and what they propose is only slightly higher, I wouldn’t increase the amount anymore. Because they always overestimate the consumption somewhat.
Note that the gas price you mention of 6 c/kWh is probably excluding transmission and taxes. You’ll be shocked when you see the full price.
