According to a poll in a major Canadian newspaper, over 90% of Canadians support the Freedom Convoy protesters. I was wondering what the Czechs think of this protest in general?
Here’s the poll for reference: [https://www.thestar.com/politics/2022/02/06/have-your-say-was-ottawa-right-in-declaring-a-state-of-emergency-due-to-the-protests.html](https://www.thestar.com/politics/2022/02/06/have-your-say-was-ottawa-right-in-declaring-a-state-of-emergency-due-to-the-protests.html)
Genuinely curious as to the feelings. Canada has had absolutely insane measures compared to the Czech Republic. Masking and distancing outdoors, crazy testing pre and post flights. Gyms have been closed forever. Restaurants dying @ a fraction of capacity for over a year now.
Do Czechs support the truckers and would you like to see a similar protest here?

That is 90% of readers of this newspaper who clicked on voting, not 90% of Canadians.
Personally, I am glad the police stepped in and that there will be class lawsuits leveraged against transport companies which allowed their equipment to take part in an illegal blockade. I also fully support the measure forcing truck drivers to become vaccinated, generally vaccination should be mandatory for everyone.

>Gyms have been closed forever.
Gyms are slated to reopen february 14th.

Restaurants are also open, although they require proof of vaccination.
That’s….not a poll. It’s just a web vote anyone can do.
The protests are misguided and moronic. My understanding is mandates are enforced at a provincial level.
Weren’t they already easing restrictions?
Ah yeah, meme country. International joke of entire _peoplekind_ ’till Aussies said take my beer mate.
I’m not surprised trying to destroy truckers was what broke camel’s back, what I find much more surprising is how could Canadians take it for so long. I really do hope they’ll be able to pull this off and fix their country.
What’s most worrying about the whole pandemic is the willingness of people to smash any dissent. And the most shocking one is that people are willing and happy to do so while calling the dissenters fascists. This is literally happening that people fighting for more freedom (whether or not it’s a good thing under current circumstances) are called fascists. It’s just so bizarre.
We can see it even here, there are comments calling for repercussions against the dissenters. In other subs people are calling for army intervention, celebrating the GoFundMe decision to stop the funds (while not doing so in other, much more violent situations), hoping for the truck drivers to die etc.
A lot of people worldwide totally lost any boundaries and it’s a reminder and an opportunity to witness how easily a totalitarian mindset can prevail and be supported by otherwise normal people. It might be a great lesson towards the future.
I can’t really tell if the restrictions are too much, or who is right, etc. since I’m not in canada, but these protests should mainly make life/work hard for the government, not the people. And from what I heard, so far the government hasn’t really been affected that much…
Honestly, it feels just like the insulate britain idiots glueing themselves to the roads in UK. Sure you get a lot of news coverage, but you just piss of mostly regular people who just want to go buy groceries, go to work, school… Hell, many of these people might even agree with you, but you just make them suffer, while the direct effect on the government is minimal. Not to mention, the protest seems to include such “bright minds” that there are people in these protests waving Trump flags? Really? They do realise Canada is NOT a part of USA, right?
Lol there are huge differences between provinces. What you are saying is BS.
Quebec is fucked, BC or AB are/were almost fully opened last year.
Exactly 0 lockdowns in BC in 2021 while people couldn’t leave their district in Czechia 😄 Restaurants were opened for everyone until mid September 2021. The only restriction was mask inside, lifted for summer anyway.
Yes, now it’s a bit different but restrictions should be lifted soon.
I support those guys. They just want to live their lifes. Fuck all the people who rely on government and want lockdowns and mandatory vaccination etc.
as a canadian by heart, i don’t support this… and neither many of my friends. I seriously doubt that many canadians support this. In my opinion it’s minority really but there is a general disbelief in politics now. Mostly because it seems like they don’t give a fuck about regular Canadians and don’t really solve the issues or ignore opinions altogether. If you want, I can ask directly some of my friends about the opinion.
Also!!! There is a huuuuuuuge difference between agreeing with the protest and agreeing with the right to protest. OMG op 🤦
“No! These stupid climate activists can’t block the road, the police should do something!”
How the turntables…
Freedom shall mean freedom.
There shall be no obligatory measures. On the other hand, every employer shall have the right to pay employees on the basis of how much they actually worked, everyone shall have the right to sue for damages caused to him and everyone shall have right to decide about the conditions for letting somebody enter his business or property.
On the other hand, freedom shall mean responsibility – noone shall be given any sort of special compensations or social benefits that were not given before covid.
Je mi to ukradený.
I support them. I find it stupid and harmful bcs people need truck drivers.
But government fucked up, it is obvious. The more they push it, the bigger the resistance.
And now with Omicron it looks like there is no need for mandatory vaccination. Yes it’s better to be vaccinated but not that needed.
Toddlers and crybabies. Slinging shit at Ottawa residents, assaulting people, stealing. I’d put them behind bars for a month
