  1. Undecideds: I’m still a dumb shit who can’t decide which party I should vote for.

  2. I thought the ghost of Ben Franklin was going to appear by his side for a moment there

  3. He absolutely did the right thing. If he’d stayed in the race, we’d all be staring down the barrel of a second Trump term. Project 2025 would come to fruition.

Now, that disaster has been averted. Kamala will win.

  4. Good speech. damn shame this dumb ass country cares more about performing clowns than results.

  5. Loved that even though Trump was definitely a part of that speech, he never mentioned him by name.

  6. Trump was the worst President in our country’s history. The amount of damage that he did in 4 years, and his actions still continue to do …. is immeasurable. He fractured our country and made it okay for all these racist, bigoted, xenophobic scumbags to believe to come out of the woodworks and act like assholes, half the country doesn’t believe in election integrity anymore, or facts, or reality, or science, or medicine, or equal rights, or freedom of religion, or women’s rights etc …..

Joe Biden was the best President this country has had in maybe 50 years.

In 4 years of Biden, he’s reversed a lot of the damage Trump did. But there’s still a lot of work to be done.

I am so fucking proud and thankful of Joe for doing his job, and knowing when to quit before it was too late …. for the better of the party and country. He sacrificed his personal ambition so that Democracy in this country had a chance to survive.

2024 election is a simple choice.

Either Kamala wins and we continue to be a democratic nation.

Or Trump wins and we slide into Nazi America.

  7. I genuinely like Joe Biden and that is not a feeling I have towards most public figures. I hope he has a happy retirement.

  8. How do people who claim to be Christians and good people still support Trump? It’s just good vs evil and it’s plain to see which is which. I feel proud of Biden tonight, for the dignity he brought back to the job. I want America to be dignified again. To be respected and lead by example again.

  9. Here’s my ‘last speech’ on Joe Biden. In 2020, coming into office, people who wanted big change like myself and like the speakers at https://www.progressivevoices.com had plenty of doubts.

That changed quickly when the guy who bungled the Clarence Thomas hearings and voted for the second Iraq war began to work at his last major post.

Suddenly, many of us were delightfully surprised. It became clear that Joe Biden was now progressive–so progressive that Congress could not keep up. It wasn’t even close.

As Joe Biden ends his term in office, those born after Lyndon Johnson can be sure that Biden is the most progressive president of their lifetimes. 🙂

  10. he passed the torch and threw down the gauntlet at the same time. that was fucking kick ass. way to go out on top, mr president.

  11. That was great. We need unity, not division. We need to show everyone that working together is the way forward, not hatred. I think he’ll be far more vocal about endorsing Kamala at the DNC.

  12. That speech got me so emotional. I’m going to vote the hardest I’ve ever voted. I am so pumped!

  13. Even tonight, Trump mentioned the 2020
    Stolen election.

I realize this isn’t the right place to ask this, but can someone explain to me that if Democrats were able to steal the election while Trump was running things, why are they unable to just steal the election for Joe this time around?

I mean it must be even easier to steal the election right? Why would polling matter, why would Joe need to step down at all if them shady Dems could just steal it?

Or maybe, just maybe our elections are fair. And only a madman would rule up an angry mob to attack our government because he can’t accept he lost a popularity contest.

Joe stepping down not only invalidates (for the millionth time) the election denialism but also contrasts something that Trump is unable to do.

If I recall correctly with the pussy grabbing take was released, republicans asked Trump to step aside and his response was to ask them for money for it. The same shit he pulled on Ukraine and was impeached for it.

Sometimes the shades of good and evil get blurred but these days they stand in stark contrast.

  14. Biden’s speech is why he’s so great. A selfless act from a President, who in the end, put country above all.

  15. It was an inspiring speech. I wasn’t sure dropping out was the right move, but I’m a believer. I’m ready to move past the divisive hate Trump has been trying to cultivate across our nation , and be like Joe. Kill em with kindness. Let’s get back to making this the UNITED states. 🇺🇸

  16. It was a very good speech. It came across as honest in that he believed he deserved a second term but recognized stepping aside was best for the country. The tone and everything about the speech was on point.

  17. People giving an 81 year old man with a stutter and covid shit for sounding tired?? My son grew up with a stutter, and has done amazing things despite all the bullies and asshats who gave him shit growing up. Biden still has more in the tower than that rambling narcissist Trump.

  18. That was a wonderful speech. It was a plea and a love letter, the passing of a torch and a call to arms. All some people will hear is the stutter, though, and that is a damn shame.

  19. Damn, I didn’t think I’d start actually tearing up and here I am now with a tissue. At first he was stumbling over his words a fair bit, but then he got in a stride. This was clearly emotional and hard for him. I want to give the guy a hug, it’s not an easy decision to step down. I’m so proud of him doing this. Gave me and millions of others new hope and fire for this election. Let’s kick Mr. “Dictator From Day 1” and the party of MAGA out!

  20. I love that man, he is a hero, to put our country first. His speech was eloquent.

  21. That was a good speech.

I’m glad Harris is the now in charge of prosecuting the political case against Trump, but Biden is a good human being.

  22. He is a decent and honorable American patriot. Contrasted with the criminal cult leader.

  23. “What have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” “A republic, if you can keep it” – Ben Franklin

  24. A speech for the ages. May we survive Trump and may our democracy flourish.

  25. Thank you Joe for a lifetime of public service and making one of the hardest calls a politician can make: when to let go.

  26. This feels like the one in 14,000,605 odds doctor strange tried to tell us about. Everything is slowly lining up and gaining momentum.

  27. I honestly cried. He’s an actual good person. He makes me proud of this country and hopeful for the future. Thanks Joe.

  28. That was a good speech, made even better by my mom emotionally saying “pobrecito” lol But we both know he did right by the country and all of us. Great man.

  29. It could have been a low energy speech from a doddering old man who shared his old ideals and dreams from back in his day, sleepwalking into disaster…….

….but instead the speech sounded like it came from your gentle old grandpa who was giving one last soaring speech to inspire the next generation as he passed the torch gracefully. Someone who truly has served his country for 51 years, who firmly shakes your hand as he says: “now it’s your turn”.

It was a really incredible speech. The part where he talked about being a dumb kid with a lisp in Scranton, and eventually going onto becoming president really choke me up. The promise of America.

It’s nice to feel hope for the first time in what feels like forever.

  30. He’s proven to be a damn good President, but if nothing else, I predict historians will long remember and point to this speech to illustrate the following truth –

Joe Biden is a genuinely good, kind, decent and above all, honorable man.

In that respect, he’s probably been the best man to hold the job since either Carter or Eisenhower (and that’s saying something considering by all accounts Obama, Ford and H.W. Bush were all very decent men in their own right).

If Trump is defeated this November, and Republicans never achieve their current goal of turning America into an autocracy (either in 2024 or in near future Presidential elections before abandoning that pursuit), I predict in 100 years time, history books will mention the name of Joe Biden right alongside that of George Washington and Cinncinatus. Hell, he’ll probably get a memorial of his own on the National Mall by then.

  31. Joe Biden’s Dark Knight/Brandon rising moment. Time for the girl wonder to take over. Let’s kick some fascist Nazis ass.

  32. I’m *Canadian* and watching actual patriotism unfold under the DNC’s watch is so damn inspiring 🫡

I know it might not amount to much in the end, but that’s the America I wanna see; ones who put their country and others above themselves and truly want to make better for *everyone* who flies the flag.

  33. How he spoke was enough to convince EVERYONE that this was the right move. Let’s fucking go, dude.

This was one of the most selfless acts in American history and we have a unique opportunity to reinforce and support it.

  34. That was an excellent speech.

Way to bow out with grace and understanding. If you hate that man, then that’s all that you have in your heart, and I pity your miserable existence.

    Do the world proud, America.

    Don’t fuck this up.
