  1. Where’s the problem? This is the way.

  2. As a parent, I don’t want to eat with your ugly kids. Feed them yourself!

  3. My friends would never leave my house without getting stuffed (I’m talking about food here), my mother always made some snacks for everyone. We might be poor but we are generous.

    Common PIGS win

  4. Bit extreme no? Could have just send the kid a tikkie.

  5. When I was a child, a Swedish family lived on my street, and this exact thing happened to me when I visited them. I remember how sad it made me… As an adult I’ve realized that this in fact was a blessing in disguise – they spared me from having to endure Swedish cuisine. 😅

  6. I still find it fucking weird that within the space of a few years people just bent over and started censoring swear words online

  7. Remember I had a friend over once and my mother feed him so much spaghetti bolognese that he puked for an hour, he never visited me again haha.

  8. As a Norwegian, this has happend to me a couple of times growing up.

  9. Wait isnt that normal?, are you guys getting free food at your friends houses when you were children?

  10. That would be like a Bavarian not offering you beer when you’re a guest, smh…

    A short anecdote about this:

An acquaintance of mine, who is a farmer, had a barn fire. The fire brigade arrived quickly and at the same time the acquaintance left. “Where are you heading to?” one of the Firefighters asked. The farmer: “To the beverage market, I’ve run out of beer!”

  11. Happened to me in Switzerland many times while visiting my friends.

One day I went on vacation with my exe’s family and they made me weight myself and all my bags to calculate how much gasoline I had to pay just to ride with them.

  12. I heard first hand accounts of Jan doing this as well.

  13. It might be that we italians are particularly food-centered, but this is just absurd to me. In my experience, eating something together is not an occurrence, but the pretext to hang out. First, you enjoy a meal together. Then, you can enjoy any other activity you want even more since you’re not hungry

  14. This thread makes me realize how weird people can be. You come to my place and I’ll feed you. I’ll open beers or a bottle of wine.

And I wouldn’t let you refuse.

  15. Do you expect a free meal? Why not. Here take 50 € of my wallet when you are here. Because why not? Do you wanna shag my wife? Why not?
My son invited you, so appearantly you are entitled to anything here.

  16. When I was a kid I had a friend with strange parents.

We were playing with Legos in my friend’s room when I was told to go home by his parents – because they were going to have fika.

I was only 5 but even at that age I knew how weird that was.

  17. I’ve had this happen once when I was a kid too… Super weird.

  18. On one end it’s kinda fucked, on the other I remember most parents being upset that they don’t get to have dinner with their own kids. I remember many families offering to give me food, but they straight up forced me to call home and make sure it was okay with my parents.
