New Garda uniform looks a bit familiar…

  1. >It cost €10 million to deliver and another €10 million over the five-year term of the contract.

€20 mil to put 14k gardai in threads for 5 years at €1.5k per garda – €300 for an annual uniform, not terrible value I guess?

  2. I’m telling you, gaurds should wear canada goose jackets, black tracksuit bottoms and black Nike runners. Lads will be like “Wait is that the gardai or is it Johnno and redzer?”

  3. I’ll be honest, if I got pulled over by the lad on the right.. I’d say “shit costume” and drive on

  4. yeah the Garda in the picture doesn’t look very happy about it either. looks like he’s after shitting himself but can’t change so he has to carry it around for the day

  5. This sums up the leadership in Ireland – considering we waste so so SO much money on procurement in Ireland 🇮🇪 (remember the printers that couldn’t fit in the door? Or the e – voting machines? The ventilators? 25 years of pre production fees for the metro that doesn’t exist?) And then the gobshites think they better be careful with the funds for the new Garda uniform?? I think everyone in this country want our keepers of the peace in good gear. I want them to be proud of the badge and proud of their contribution. They look like fancy dress clothes. Boggles the fuckin mind.

  6. How do we tackle the growing crime and social disturbance problem in Dublin? I dunno, let’s just rage about it on Twitter and give the Garda new uniforms I guess.

  7. You remember when you were at secondary school, and there was one PE teacher that was marginally good looking, so all the girls were stupidly in love with him even though he’d be the last lad left in coppers any given night? And he probably taught geography as well, but his main passion was PE so he had to make a considerable effort to stay one chapter ahead of his geography students?

That’s what these new uniforms look like.

  8. As a Norwegian, I feel I need to know, have they given up on cars and put all the Garda on bikes?

And is this why he looks so grumpy?

  9. I’m not irish but please tell me Chiefs exist in the Garda.

If so, the likelyhood that Chief O’Brian exists out there in this uniform is the best thing ever.

  10. maybe instead of switching up their uniform the government could maybe, pay them more? Maybe give them the roster they want and not go back to a shitty one? Why not allocate the budget to something they’ll actually care about and not a regatta jacket with a fancy logo
