  1. Why on every map like this there is no data for eastern Europe and Balkans????

  2. Few years ago I spent two weeks in Iceland, of those a few days in a beautiful little house in the middle of nowhere. I’ve never experienced such quietness before and ever since. It was magical and kinda scary at the same time.

  3. Based on the colors of the map I would be scared to fart in Iceland in case somebody might hear it.

  4. Sheesh, north would be perfect landing spot for aliens from the quiet place… They would die off really fast😂

  5. Normalise this with population density and we have something that could give insights.

  6. Croatia is always no data -.-
And it’s been +10 yrs. since we are in the EU.
It almost feels like we aren’t when looking at these poll/statistic maps. It’s never included, wtf?

  7. The noise in Portugal is all my neighbor watching TV.

  8. Well. I live in the northern Norway and I was quite surprised how annoyingly loud American tourists are. I didn’t know I was like this so the map checks out I guess

  9. Germany seems quite loud from this map and man I was surprised when I realized how loud Germans are.

  10. Me, living in south Italy in that huge red dot, I look at the alps and dream of the birds chirping…

  11. Where I live there are so many people with modified cars that it genuinely becoming a mental problem for me. I get frustrated and angry when an idiot with an open tailpipe passes by. Besides that I also have moronic neighbours that decided to get donkeys as well as ducks. Furthermore, I live relatively close to a highway (in a town of 2k people) so it is physically impossible for me to have complete silence in my home. It is a great stess inducer and is one of the reasons I will be moving to Norway next year…

  12. This just doesn’t make sense because all it shows is a population density. What would make sense is showing a single city and displaying which areas are loud and which are quiet. Even inside a single quarter you could have high differences.

  13. I live in a yellow-green area, just below the mid-point of the scale. I can hear planes flying at >30k ft, both widebody and narrowbody. I’ve been told that’s impossible and I’m making it up – but I hear them before I see them, so that’s clearly not true. Do I have super-hearing or is my experience typical? To be clear, I’m not complaining about the noise – if anything it’s fun to see an A350 on an intercontinental flight or a B737 going down to the Med.

*Think of this as a poll – what colour do you live in and can you hear planes flying over you at cruising altitude when out for a walk?*

  14. the areas of europe with more mopeds than cars should be red lol

  15. Oh great, another map about the density of population.

  16. Substitution for Yugoslavia. Slovenia left, Albania entered

  17. I am from the Netherlands but currently in Norway, if is whisper quiet here almost everywhere. You can hear the dolphins breathing out from a kilometer away.

  18. Norway was, with New Zealand, the quietest country I’ve been to. Work for a while in Oslo and damn, that was quite in comparison. Absolutely loved it

  19. I’ve been in that blue patch on south Iceland (on the road between Vik and Skaftafell). It is *eerily* quiet.

  20. Yeah, it doesn’t really make sense. I’m polish and there are some places where all you can hear are some crickets for few hours a day and that’s literally it. Loveable

  21. I would like to compare this with other non European countries. Are we suffering more or less from noise, in comparison to USA or Russia/China?

  22. The lowlands don’t know what even the idea of silence means
