PPE worth £2.7bn bought for NHS will go unused, minister says

  1. Not saying a complete private system (American) is the answer or even ideal. However one imagines a private hospital wouldn’t permit this amount of money going to waste.

  2. With plenty of it unfit for purpose and all of it worth far less than what the NHS paid for it. It’s a great lesson in how not to source PPE and a great lesson in how the NHS is held over by companies who are happy to charge it a fortune for even the most basic supplies.

  3. There is reasonable space in procurement for bad deals to be made on PPE when we desperately needed any we could get our hands on but **£2.7 billion pounds** of UK tax payers money wasted is criminal negligence imo. Even more so when most of this PPE would have been provided through VIP lanes whose only legitimate plausible excuse for their existence was providing speed & reliability.

The really sad thing is much of this money will be used to fund the political activities of the Tory party in the future so the next time an opportunity like this comes up they can do it again.

  4. For those who can’t be arsed to do the maths, that’s about £40 for every single person in the UK.

  5. Will go unused? Why?

Even if e don’t use it today, we will use it over time. Covid isn’t going any where
Please doesn’t have a shelf life of 1 week

    Is there something I’m missing?

Ps. Not read the article yet, so might be missing something. Bit still
