5. People were ready to vote for Biden even if they thought he was likely to die in office. Trump has no chance agaisnt a candidate who is simply believed to be able to live for 4 more years.

7. A lot of reasons for that.

   First being that now that Biden is not going to run for reelection and is giving his full support behind Kamala, it all feels that much more real for voters. It was a much needed spark.

   The second being, shortly after that announcement, Kamala’s blazing campaign trail is catching more headlines instead of the will they won’t they shenanigans the past few weeks wrought. We are seeing her *everywhere,* ads are coming out, merch is being made, and it’s practically an over night shift of what was once an “invisible” VP, is now a highly visible candidate.

   Third being, it’s unprecedented what happened here, and not enough kudos will be granted to Biden until long past. You have a man who is dropping out instead of clinging to power, something we were conditioned and equipped to expect and handle, to a new, brighter reality: One of sense, and reasoning.

   Fourth being, for all the shit Kamala had flung at her, she is STILL the VP, and is most equipped to handle the transition. People are wising up to this, and seeing her for the candidate she ***is***, and not what they had made up in their minds about her from the past. I’m also one of those people who held it against her based off how she did prior, and was worried she wouldn’t be the right fit, but I am happy to eat that shoe. This level of fight is what I was really hoping for, and I am glad to be proven wrong about her. She definitely has it.

   Doubts are giving way to hope, and hope is giving way to excitement. People are excited to vote now. From all walks of life. A younger candidate, a woman of color, and one who has the fangs to bite back at someone like Trump when we desperately needed it. A prior prosecutor vs an active felon. The PPV titles write themselves really. It’s very poetic. It’s very on the nose as well, just more evidence the writers of fate are having a spot of fun with us.

   But for the first time in nearly a decade, we have someone we can feel happy with voting for. It’s an exciting time to be alive.

8. Great to see the shift on a daily basis. It’s also why the campaign might hold off on a VP choice to let the polls catch up. In the end, it might not make sense to chase any particular battleground state.

   Get these VP candidates in front of American voters and the press. Let’s see who shakes out. JD Vance and his campaign gaffes are a guide on what *not* to do.

   If Harris keeps gaining ground with young voters, relative to other demographics, it’s fair to expect her campaign messaging will pivot towards that demographic’s key issues. It would most likely mean a departure from Biden’s policies with a more left-leaning trajectory.

   If (again, lots of ‘if’s) they pursue that strategy, her campaign will need to strike a delicate balance to keep moderate swing voters, unless of course they’re sure the majority of those voters are vehemently anti-Trump.

11. If Harris beats Trump in November, the most likely outcome is she gets re-elected in 2028 and we have 12 uninterrupted years of Democratic party leadership. Maybe that would be just enough to somewhat undo the damage Trump did in 4 years.

    Let’s turn that “If” into a “when”

12. Too early to tell. There is so much hype now, but the question is whether it is sustainable once the honeymoon period ends.

15. Arizona is the most skippable of the swing states but the senate candidate has been consistently polling high enough to win. AZ will be close regardless of if they pick Kelly.

17. Good God, as a vehemently anti-Trump American, I cannot express how excited I am for Kamala Harris. I am no longer gritting my teeth waiting for Biden to do something embarrassing and now I’m actively rooting for someone to call out his bullshit and hypocrisy.

    I was extremely pro-Biden in 2020 because I thought he had the highest likelihood of winning of all the Democratic candidates (Elizabeth Warren remains my favorite Democrat but I didn’t think she could win) and if he pulls off getting Harris elected over Trump I pledge I will have his presidential photo hung in my home so my children know what a service he did for this country. But I am so happy there’s someone to root for now instead of someone to just hope says enough to not be completely embarrassing.

18. The tone surrounding this election has made a compete 180. It feels as if Trump is toothless and lost his stature once Biden stepped down. No one cares about him anymore and looks forward to a future with Kamala.
