I understand the traditions, the ceremonies, but an anachronistic monarchy figurehead that just exists to receives money and owns things is a sad waste for a country especially in tough times.
Heavily misleading the crown estate had higher profits which in return means monarchy get more funds, most of which goes into repairs etc.. crown estates taxed like 88% they get 12 for monarch upkeep.

Essentially the royal family makes a ton of money due to their assests. Of that income all of it first goes to one organization and 88% of it will be paid in what essentially equates taxes to the government. Eventually via budgets the royal family will be getting back 12% to cover all their expenses.
It reads like if they kept previous split they would actually have gotten more because it was a 25/75 split. Their contracts and assest did so well though that despite the % decrease the $ is still a increase of 60mil.
If I did comprehend that right, despite other criticisms of the governing system and royal family, this seems like the UK government is coming out ahead.
