  1. This looks strange since a men’s team doesn’t take the place of a women’s team since they have their own categories. Were there some categories only opened for men or some countries didn’t send any representation for some disciplines or why it wasn’t equal before?

  2. It’s a weird milestone since men are more interested in sports than women as spectators, audience, and etc.. Before anyone points out more female-oriented sports, I’d like to say that if you look at total participation or audience combined, this is definitely true. Nothing is stopping women from turning on their TVs and watching whatever sport, but they don’t nearly as much.

If we restructured ballet so that men participated as much as women, would that also be a victory for gender equality?

  3. Really interesting, will be fascinating to see how things pan out 12 years from now since it doesn’t look like there’s any slowing down.

  4. Equal gender representation in women sports category you mean? 😉

  5. This a symptom of overall gender equality improvement around the world in all aspects of society, so definitely worth celebrating

But its not that the Olympics somehow being the cause driving gender equality

  6. I believe this also relied on the Olympic committee saying Stfu to the Taliban who refused to send female athletes. They enforced Afghanistan women who have left the country’s participation.

  7. Now draw a best fit line so we know which year it will be 100% women
