Ukrainians used to call them "turists", becouse russia denied they were sending army in. But some of them violated that rule and posted photos from Ukraine on social media, they were investigated and it prooved rus involvment, who were sending regular army and tanks accros the border. Investigations were made and also posted on internet, YT, Live leak…

33. Google timeline. A cellphone taken from a fallen soldier could show a history of his exact locations. Used with other soldiers timeliness, very good Intel of Russian movements could be deduced and key locations could be located. I realize this feature can and should be disabled during a campaign but how many really take the time to do that.

I've been thinking about how simple it would be to design small passive listening devices that can log bluetooth, drone, and wifi signals, along with their direction and range and the gps coords of the listening device. A few thousand of these scattered around rear areas and front lines and such by partisans and drones could return a wealth of information about troop movements. It wouldn't be that difficult to find the ESSIDs, bluetooth addresses, and wifi MAC addresses of devices associated with important people. Hopefully Russia will be more 'realistic' and leave this gaping security hole wide open for exploitation.

47. Actually, in Ukraine, the russian soldiers are often using the Ukraine cell network. No special equipment needed.
    You said that soldiers are using personal cell phones for military functions. An additional point I've seen made is that they are using their phones BECAUSE the military does not provide them with milspec communications devices. So, without their cell phones they are isolated, their military effectiveness is degraded.

    Communications is not the only piece of equipment many russians are buying out of their own pocket because either they are simply not given equipment, or the equipment is not fit for use.
