  3. Considering Canada’s recent improvement in results the past few years, on both teams, that explains a lot.

    A real black eye for Christine Sinclair, tarnishes her achievement in 2021.

  6. Oh, brother. Systematic spying of your rivals using drones. Even if they win gold the fact that they cheated by spying will tarnish their achievement for sure.

  7. Holy s**t. If those are true and backed with proof, they need to be sanctioned and suspended because cheating whatsoever is illegal.

    But big thing is they can spy, discern who’s injured, or playing where and when and what set plays look like.

    Only questions, is it against the rules? I know flying a drone in restricted space is, but watching practices?

  10. No attempt to make excuses for them, but if the Canadians are doing it there’s no reason to believe there aren’t other teams that are doing it (or something similar) too.

  11. They could easily deal with this not by discouraging cheating but by asking air-related laws to be enforced against them.

    Sanction = slap in the wrist.

    Jail time = “yeah no thanks”

  13. Soccer is the one sport that I am baffled about what exactly such spying is going to produce, as far as results on the pitch.

    Are you trying to determine who is injured / out of shape?

  14. Yeah, no other country cheats. Good thing they caught the only people doing it, whew.

    Just like we are fortunate, china was able to explain that all 23 of their athletes testing positive for performance enhancing drugs was just an accident, so no worries there either.

    Now let’s all just focus on Canada and nothing else as it’s impossible anyone else cheated.

  16. What advantage does filming 2/3rds of the opposing team standing around for 90 minutes give you. Stupid sport that can be mastered by 5 year olds.

  18. Their spying skills must be as good as their soccer skills if they’re still mediocre.

  19. Why would you even do this in soccer? It’s not like football where every play is designed. Soccer is more flow. Sure there are set pieces but it ain’t that much.
