  1. ***The Telegraph reports:***

Spice has been found in 16 per cent of [vapes confiscated at English schools](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/e-cigarettes/), research has found.

Prof Chris Pudney, from the University of Bath, tested 596 vapes confiscated from schools in England and found 16.6 per cent contained spice, which has a [range of dangerous side effects](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/04/30/vaping-exposes-teenagers-to-lead-and-uranium/) including cardiac arrest.

It is believed the substance is being substituted into vapes, which are sold as containing cannabis oil, [as it is cheaper](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2018/11/06/spice-could-reclassified-class-drug-amid-fears-town-centres/).

In total, 38 schools from across London, the West Midlands, Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire took part in the research.

Results from a device that instantly detects synthetic drugs found [spice was present in vapes](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/05/10/schoolchildren-using-vapes-spiked-with-spice/) from 28, or 74 per cent, of these schools.

The device also revealed 1.17 per cent of the vapes tested contained Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive component of cannabis.

  2. Cannabis prohibition rears its ugly head.. your children smoke bath salts instead.. yikes

  3. Are these commercially sold products, or “dodgy” backstreet products.

Do 16% of *all vapes* contain spice, or is it specific to vapes sold around children’s schools.

  4. Anyone have a figure for how much tax you could make on weed by legalising it?

    Tourists would smoke it

    Citizens would smoke it

We already grow and export it so the farming part is already sorted.

    Any chemist could sell it.

    I don’t see the problem

  5. I’ve read some horseshit in my time but this is next level horseshit. People are not putting spice into vapes. Scaremongering bollocks.

  6. And so it begins, how long until we get kids doing spice yoga in class rooms or halls? I can’t wait until fentanyl reaches this country as it will sadly kill a hell of a lot of people.

  7. Legalise the herb. The only reason at all these exist is because of the drug laws. We saw it with mamba ten years ago now it’s the same with the vapes.

  8. I’m obviously not hip these days. I’m pretty sure they aren’t talking about coriander or turmeric. But what are they talking about?

  9. >schoolchildren’s vapes

I think I’ve spotted the problem here.

Who could ever have thought that allowing an unregulated, uncontrolled industry to sell whatever it wanted to whoever it wanted could cause problems?

  10. Pretty much all THC vapes are spice, unless you pay good money. My friends quickly realised that if dealers/suppliers where actually making any profit from THC vapes they had to be fake. Use your brain people buy flower or even better, buy nothing.

  11. Hopefully it helps those children develop their precognition. We really need to sort this Navigator shortage in the Guild.

  12. Breaking news: Kids eyes change to blue and sand worm has now destroyed local schools
