NHS England could employ unvaccinated staff after 1 April, says regulator

  1. Tories, a party that we can all agree has never had the NHS interest at heart; has suddenly decided it cares and wants to make sure everyone is vaccinated?

So nice that this party is turning itself around and becoming a more caring and understanding party. A party that can see working class folk aren’t just obedient lemmings that exist to serve the whim of the rich. A party that can see the NHS needs protecting. A party that holds itself and the people equally accountable, a fair and earnest party that wants what’s best for _us_.

The ~~pessimist~~ realist might argue that the Tories haven’t changed. And are in fact undermining the NHS at every possible turn. The firing of potentially thousands of staff while the service is “on its knees” and shorthanded could just be a ploy to undermine it further. The stories of people suffering horrendously long waiting times for procedures, not being able to see their G.P and so on, all these things might make privatisation a little more appealing. Might make tearing down the NHS easier to swallow.

  2. I struggle to understand why they won’t get vaxed.

I heard an intelligent and articulate sounding nurse quibbling on the radio about this, but she didn’t come up with a reason.Puzzling

  3. I think this is so tricky, because I think people who are vulnerable have the (moral) right to know if they’re exposing themselves to risk. Medical staff often give close-contact / intimate care. At the same time, they definitely don’t have the right (certainly legal and I think moral too) to demand a caregiver’s medical history. So where does that leave us? (I suspect the answer is “Fuck the vulnerable”.) The only way around it I can see is to continue to mandate vaccination for medical staff.

  4. Now, that’s just stupid. I feel that if you’re working in a care enviroment or in the medical profession or in any profession where you are working with ill and vulunerable people, you should be vaccinated. You may not get serious cases of Covid but they are far more likely to.
