Alaba was nowhere near his best version when he got injured, imagine when he returns after a “more severe than usual” torn ligaments injury, 1 year inactivity and 32 years on his back… I think Alaba’s carreer at RM is over as a starter or as an important player for the team and we should try to sell him in the next transfer window or next summer.
Sooo YES, we should definitely go for a CB, and I’ll step it up a notch and say we should go for an ELITE CB and not some back up/temporary solution, given Rüdiger is also above 30 (De Ligt or Bastoni are my favorite choices).
If we don’t sign a cb this season, another option for the future is signing a defensive midfielder that competes with Camavinga and move Tchouameni to the cb position.
Go for Schlotterback man, Guy is terrific on the ball (probably the best ball playing CB in Europe) and there is will be healthy competition between Rudiger, Militao and Schlotteback
How do you feel about losing out on Leny Yoro? He looked very impressive in his opening 45 minutes for United. Yoro should be playing against Arsenal tomorrow in a pre-season game. it might be worth having a look.

Like bringing in Hummels or Ramos for a season if we dont hit our targets? That just seems like a sensible backup plan. The “either we get our guy or noone” is quite insane.

The board are trying to keep football a competitive sport by not signing a CB, all the matches we play with the lack of defensive options would make the game fair and keep it from becoming a one sided jerk off session
