My uncle came over for a visit from Liverpool back in the 90s. He walked into a pub in Dublin city centre and the barman roared at him “Get out, you’re barred”. He said he’d never been there before, and he was told to get out before they threw him out. Poor man ran out and came home totally confused lol.
Something similar actually happened to me. My family immigrated to USA when I was 2.5 and we came back once I finished school. My grandad took me up to see the old house where we used to live and he had wandered off to do grandad stuff and one of the neighbors walked out and said heya lambchops how are you doing! I am very like my dad but the woman had not seen me in over 17 years.
