  1. > Respondents, which represented all Gen Z voters and younger millennials, were asked who they would vote for in a head-to-head between Harris and Trump; 60 percent opted for the vice president, while only 40 percent picked Trump.

    > When asked the same question if Biden were the Democratic nominee, Trump’s support among young voters increased to 47 percent, as only 53 percent supported the current president serving a second term

    Huge swing.

  2. Only 60-40 in favour of Harris over Trump for Gen Z? Under 28s? Seems low

  3. I can’t imagine being so young and thinking “yeah Trump sounds good”. 40%. That’s absolutely insane

  4. I don’t know how any self respecting gen xer down to gen z could vote for Trump. It’s like picking up a bat and hitting yourself in the head.

  5. That’s great but fuck polls, 2016 taught me that. Go out and vote. Haven’t been this energized since ’08.

  6. Nice title but it’s meaningless because it comes from newsweek.

  7. Just make sure you go vote please. this is only real if you go vote. If you’re young and in a new area, spend the few minutes making sure you’re registered to vote and locate your polling station. Having a simple plan in place will make it way more likely you actually go vote.

If you are in a position to make it easier for a friend/employee/etc. to vote, please try to accommodate them to be able to vote.

  8. The problem with young voters is if they will get out and vote. Elder people vote more often.

  9. But you have to vote

    Make sure you’re registered

Take a drive to your local voting spot so you know where it is on Election Day

Set your alarm early on Election Day.

Make sure you have a ride and offer to drive other friends and family if they need help (despite their party affiliation)

  10. Newsweek is a rag… VOTE. VOTE. VOTE. I can’t help but feel like a lot of these articles are just trying to encourage complacency. Don’t fall for it. *VOTE*.

  11. And Hillary crushed Donald all the way up until that fucked up election. VOTE like your right to vote depends on it!!!

  12. Guys I need yall to actually go out and vote. Polls mean nothing if you don’t go vote.

  13. The enthusiasm is real. Register to vote. Vote blue down ballot!

“Nearly 40K new voters registered in 48 hours after Biden’s exit

Almost 40,000 people registered to vote in the 48 hours after President Biden announced he was suspending his reelection campaign and endorsing Vice President Harris, Vote.org said.

Vote.org said 38,500 new voters registered, representing the largest number of registrations in a 48-hour period this election cycle.

Of the new voter registrations, 83 percent were from people aged 18-34, according to the voting registration nonprofit group.“

  14. Remember when Obama was running and it wasn’t about generations? Everybody loved him and everybody loves Kamala. The youth is what makes a difference in the race to the White House though…so this is awesome news. It bums me out to think Gen Z wouldn’t have voted for Biden.

  15. What’s crazy to me is that 40% of young people would vote for Trump.

  16. Hopefully they vote….and hopefully they know they have to be registered to vote, in order to vote!

  17. My daughter is 14 and was thrilled when she realized that she’ll be able to vote in the 2028 presidential election. I’m so proud of Gen Z. They give me hope.

  18. This is what MAGA is really afraid of. We’re not in 2016 anymore. We now have an entirely new generation of voters who have been given a shitty hand and can finally do something about it at the polls. Gen Z aren’t 70-year-old zombies who can be tricked by Trump’s blatant lies and corruption. They see their options clearly, and they don’t stand for the hate and oppression that generations of the past are desperately trying to uphold. Hopefully they bring that energy all the way to the polls.

  19. This is my daughter! She wasn’t even going to vote before and now all her friends are talking about the 2025 agenda and registering to vote! Finally, momentum.

  20. I am really excited about voting for Kamala. The bump she has is fantastic news.

Still, please keep this in mind:

We have a potentially major problem that I hope she can overcome.

This surge in support for Kamala Harris is made up of a young, mixed race majority. Duh, right?

This is a potential issue because *most* of the swing voters who have the most sway with the remaining, crucial electoral college votes currently up in the air are *older* voters.

So, as we saw with Hillary, at this point a close or winning margin in polling numbers suggests she could win the popular vote and still lose the election.

I love the excitement in the air.

Practically, though, I hope she and young voters can find an effective plan to move the needle on those older swing voters.
