better lock the psycho up to protect the public eh
I’d be drug testing that officer too…that behaviour looked like steroid rage
He’ll be made an example of…so people don’t have a close look at Greater Manchester Police…if you know, you know 😉
Good. Regardless of what happened before the video started, police officers can’t go around stomping on the heads of people already on the ground.
This is very welcome news.
I posted yesterday saying it was unacceptable and that people shouldn’t be defending him. Nothing, absolutely nothing that occurred prior to the events we saw justifies kicking a prone man in the head.
Revenge is not the job of the police. Least of all police with firearms.
Perhaps telling even the Manc mayor was unable/reticent to even suggest the possible reason(s) for doing that to a human being that was both lying face-down AND arms down his sides.
It’s a shit job, high pressure situation where a colleague was assaulted. I understand his anger, I’ve been in similar situations, but you have to be better than that. He will have the book thrown at him and rightfully so.
It’ll be reassuring that an investigation will uncover what happened here, and it’ll be interesting to hear the full story instead of drip feeding moral outrage from the public.
Whilst I have no issues with this whatsoever; wrong place and wrong time and that could have been fatal; I’d like to see more details which is what the investigation will bring. E.g. what triggered this, what was the Officers told before attending, what does the Body Worn Video show? Is there anything even partially mitigating here? I can’t believe this guy is just some psychopath who was on an Armed Response Unit. I’m also not believing that the guy that was kicked probably isn’t due to be charged with something – which is why I’d like to see more detail as I expect I could be wrong.
Sure some people here who seem to desperately want an unquestionable and unaccountable police state will be raging at this.
Regardless of anything else, random members of the public are expected to exercise restraint in situations where taking someone to the floor is necessary, so I don’t see why we should hold police to a different standard to everyone else.
I mean, good.
Even taking into account they assaulted officers, it was way, way beyond the pale.
I’d also like to point out if somebody assaulted your mate in the street and you did that to their attacker, the police would arrest you for assault because you went over the line of reasonable force to defend yourself or others
Really easy answer here. You prosecute the men who assaulted the police officers and you investigate and prosecute the police office who stomped on the guy.
By refusing to prosecute the individuals who committed the initial crimes all that will be achieved is spreading the belief this is a double standard in policing and that police are incapable of upholding the law when it comes to the local community.
Getting assaulted by a police officer should not result in a get out of jail free card and the promotion of the narrative the offenders are victims.
This happened in a public place and was filmed, there have been many deaths over the years in police custody, prison or a mental health facility.
The way the inquest system works in the UK , means that the authorities have all the resources on there side ,and this obviously makes it very hard for the families of anyone who is killed in this manner to get justice.
Many deaths can be attributed to racism on the behalf of the authorities.
People such as David Oluwale, Cynthia Jarrett,John Mikkelsen etc.
Posting a link hopefully to a pdf as there are many cases.
Deadly silence,it’s fairly old and a lot more cases have sadly happened since.

I’ll be fascinated to know if his colleagues reported him _before_ the clip went viral and became a big scandal.
