  1. Those numbers are way closer than I would have expected.

  2. Comparison is easier with both on the same chart.

  3. Wait, a Costco cashier makes almost as much as I do? Signed, a teacher with a Masters degree.

  4. 19,5 bucks an hour working at Costco as cashier? That is very good pay for a unskilled job. Almost unreasonably good compared to what teachers, social workers and various health care workers earn even in Scandinavia, lol.

  5. Target never gives their employees full time hours… you’ll be lucky to get 25 hours a week there. This info-graph is kinda misleading in that sense

  6. I’ve never understood counting paid time off as additional salary. You can’t access more than your pay in one year. You’re not getting paid twice for those days.

  7. Surprised at the lack of shock over health insurance making up about 23-25% of total compensation. Guess everyone’s just grown numb to it by now

  8. This is highly dubious for two main reasons- 1) You are counting the cash value of compensation which a corporation does but a normal employee does not- this isn’t what they are “making”
    2) The overwhelming majority of cashiers are hourly and don’t work full time. I would guess most stores purposely try to keep their employee below full time in order to keep benefits low.

  9. Wait a sec.
    38 hours x 52 weeks x 18.25 = 36042 (+bonus)

How are you able to use pto unless you only take 2 hours per week? Any pto week off makes you less money.

  10. So the top line pay figure in the US also includes healthcare, paid time off, benefits and pension, if applicable? If so, that makes a bit more sense why it is so much more than in Scotland, which only states basic pay e.g 36,362 or 41,392

  11. Target cashiers get matching 401ks? Dang. I’ve never had that at any job I’ve worked.

  12. Max $500 on the 401k with a 5 YEAR vesting is absurd lol

  13. My annual value would be more than 50k just from the 15% off and how much my wife spends at target

  14. Both of those are more than what I get paid as a teacher. Damn.

  15. Our company had website called “total compensation”. It include items not on the paystub like additional FICA, various insurances, retirement matches. It not include things like office rent, provided computers, company courses, etc. Total compensation might be almost double your take home.

  16. How many cashiers are full-time with 401K? When I worked retail, they kept everyone around 28 hours to avoid giving us full-time benefits.
