[OC] I made a live map of rats and other critters in Boston Posted by v_cantu Tags:DataData Is BeautifulDataIsBeautiful 8 comments It’s sourced from 311 reports. You can find it here [https://rats.boston](https://rats.boston/) Initially thought you tagged them like sharks I didn’t realize that coyotes would venture that far into the city. I also didn’t think there’d be that many turkeys in Boston. Wonder how things would like when scrolled down to quincy!! 20 years ago we were having late drinks on a patio in Back Bay. Saw a dog lurking in the shadows a couple restaurants down. Took us a while to realize it was the biggest rat we’ve ever seen. Like hulk-rat. Didn’t report it because the animal control guy probably has a wife and kids. What did you use for your map? I need to make something similar for work (not with rats lol) The data source is reports to 311, Boston’s non-emergency city-services access point. For anyone thinking “Wow, Brookline is free of critters!”, it should be noted that it is not part of Boston and therefore not included in 311 data. If this would actually show all rats itd look like flight radar Leave a ReplyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
