In short time the new small scaled nuclear plants might offer a solution for the problems we face. I believe we should keep looking for safer solutions. For now, maybe we need them but we should not keep those old plants, they have had their time.
I do not believe we are ready for 100% electrifying if we only want to use solar power and wind, but we must get rid of those fossile energy asap. So sadly, yes, nucleair power will be needed I think.
Why even post this? This discussions happens several times a week already. No new evidence is ever presented, no one has changed their mind.
We should start investing in nuclear on a european level. It gets endelessly cheaper if you can built 10-100-1000 exactly the same power plants.
Also thorium reactors need to be investigated further.
Since when are we adraid from progress? All the people saying technology will solve this. This is the way.
Another way could be to build massive solar collectors in the deserts of the world. But then transport will be an issue.
