That’s so unnecessary to say. Very immature and inappropriate in my opinion
The gay rave aesthetics are not to everyone’s taste. I just hope those who produce those kinds of tacky ceremonies won’t think it means they need to shove it more vigorously down people’s throats.
The way it seems now, we are going to see crucified drag queens in the opening ceremony for mathletes.

The Beijing opening ceremony will be the standard for many years to come. A true spectacle.
The ancient Greeks would have liked it, though
Olympics are inclusive and we want to harbour unity
France – Hold my cup
People acting like Christianity has become forbidden, lighten up, it will do you good.
I didn’t see much of it, but I caught a glimpse of somebody breakdancing next to a pair dancing a waltz to the tune of Darude Sandstorm. I gotta admit, that was kind of weirdchamp.
And some enlightened, progressive minds cannot fathom why the Far-Right and intolerance are rising in Europe…
Funny that they didn’t mock Islam,.because they know that Paris would be burning right now, and the progressives would be thrown from the top of buildings or beaten to a pulp in the middle of the street.
What happened so outrageous? Truly trying to understand why some people are so mad.
Is it the drag queens depicting da Vinci’s interpretation of the Last Supper? Why is it so ungodly? Are drag queen’s not children of God? And if that truly was what their performance symbolised, it’s literally a remake of an art piece. How do you know the da Vinci’s original had truly Christian intentions? Etc.
Sounds like a you problem.
On a 5 hour ceremony, some of you are really butthurt over the little amount of LGBTQ+ imagery that was very small compared to everything else.
Snowflakes.
For once I’m happy with the ceremony, it managed to piss off both christians and bigots.
I like the metal/opera mashup, the horse on the water, everything on Sene was pretty well thought-out, although the coming of the athletes was rather slow. The Imagine rendition of John Lennon was sung beautifully, and the burning piano created a strong visual. The light-show of the Eiffel Tower, and the singing of Celine Dion, and that ending with the balloon, excellent.
The only criticism I want to voice is about the pacing of it. As I said there were too many boats coming slowly down the river, there was too much dancing, and catwalking, in the last half. Some portions felt far too stretched-out in the sake of others, that were visually more entertaining and engaging.
Finnish right-wing Minister of International Trade complained on Twatter about “wokeness” and blah blah mixing sports and politics, but that’s par for the course given that based on his track record he doesn’t seem to have a very good idea of how to further rather than hinder international trade relations.
r/europe will hash bullshit about “western values” and “barbaric islamism” then they want blasphemy laws and to lynch gays if they make too much noise lol
This is France people, we are not a medieval ass country bending backwards for religion. Sorry freedom is hurting your feelings.
I know this is somewhat a controversial comment that Mitsotakis made here. But to most Europeans that live in the real world, this is the least controversial comment someone could’ve made, because to most normal people, it *was* weird, and stuff like this is just ammunition for people on the far-right. You may not like it but most people in the EU aren’t upper class Western Europeans that think everything revolves around gender and sexuality, and all these things are only being used as “proof” in my country that the West is “degenerate” and we need to stay away from European ideals. And no, calling them uneducated or uncivilized because they don’t get it isn’t the way to go either.
Was it blasphemy having campy trans people doing the last supper? Yes of course it was. But France is a secular state, if the artists who designed this ceremony want to mock the last supper the state has no real voice in the matter. Don’t like it, too bad. Lots of things I don’t like either. No one cares and no one should.
He is a bad, corrupt PM, but don’t assume anti-woke agenda or what have you in these words. He personally pushed for same sex marriage approval in Greece. What he is saying is what many people are saying. That there was a lot of poor taste involved around parts of the opening ceremony.
They are the country hosting, and its their ceremony. If they want to ridicule themselves then so be it.
