Earlier this week I came across Hrobar’s new album, Mŕtvy Ťah, on bandcamp. Cool crossover thrash, but I was wondering about the lyrics to some songs. Tracks like “Tvoje telo nie je moja voľba,” “Toxická maskulinita,” “Tichá domácnosť,” and “Tak ti treba” seem shitty, but maybe Google Translate just isn’t good at capturing Slovak humor/irony? Are these dudes genuine assholes, just trolling, or it a translation issue?

Side note: any Slovak black metal, grindcore, sludge, death metal, noise, or powerviolence I should check out?

  1. The first song is called Hrobar is the best band in the world, I dont think I have to look further 😂

  2. I listened to songs you had mentioned and they are definitely full of humor and irony, I had a good laugh few times. btw thanks for sharing, its really cool band.

  3. Reading the lyrics, I’m definitely getting more “wannabe macho alt-right asshole” vibes than “ironic jokey troll” ones. Song 16 seems to just straight up be about killing voters of the opposition.
