Data comes from the Chefscanner database, including over one million ingredient pairs collected from recipe websites such as The Guardian, The Telegraph, Food & Wine, La Cucina Italiana and Academie du Gout.
The charts were build using Layer.JS within the SvelteKit framework. Analysis and data transformation were performed using Python.
I posted a chart within similar information but with a totally different style and format of chart. It received a lot of criticism so I hope this new format is better designed to convey its information.
The nodes on the far left represent some of the most prominent flavours of cherry. They are linked to another set of flavours based on analysis of association between individual flavours. On the right are five ingredients with flavour profiles that are similar to the compatible flavours of cherry.
