To be fair, as the 44 years of Soviet Influence are slowly fading, the reality of 1000 years of Central Europe is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
I don’t get why you guys are gatekeeping this so much. Is it in order to feel better about ourselves ? Is it just for the memes ? What do we, as Europeans, have to win from a perpetual cultural and economic rift between West and East ? Wouldn’t it just weaken us in the long run ?
We are all (well, maybe except for Barry) much closer in everything to a Pole than to an American. They are much closer to us than to a Russian.
The EU has worked hard to close the gap. We should be glad that it is slowly happening and welcome them in the cool kids club.

Its more a czech and a polish concept, Ive never heard any hungarian complaining about being called eastern. We dont really give a fuck tbf, you can call us eastoid or asian, if you please.
