“An excerpt of Robert Jobson's upcoming biography Catherine, The Princess of Wales obtained by The Daily Mail details how the Princess of Wales, 42, has been a “calming influence” on the whole royal family — especially William, 42.
Through her role as an “instinctive peace-maker,” Kate has “smoothed the way for William and his father to have a better relationship than they had in the past,” Jobson writes.
…
““He also respects his father and his devotion to service, but he feels the fact his father put work first had a detrimental impact on him when he was growing up and didn't help their father/son relationship,” the source added.
Still, an insider told Jobson that Kate has helped William see his father’s perspective. “[She] is somebody who always tries to see both sides of any dispute,” they said, adding that the “emotionally mature” princess “is a stabilizing influence.”
Her positive influence also extends to the King, who views her as his “beloved daughter-in-law” and even the daughter he never had, Jobson writes. Kate, meanwhile, privately addresses him as “Grandpa," the book claims…”

I feel like we’ve heard this narrative a lot before and it tracks. I swear she’s getting all the credit when those kids grow up well adjusted and normal. Anyway, I hope the book talks mostly about her outside of William and King Charles, etc but that’s just because I think it’s stuff we’ve heard before.
This should be interesting. I never got around to reading his William book.
The full extract:

The extract here isn’t really anything new generally what most reporters report about the Wales.
The only interesting thing I saw here was
> One recent source of disagreement is William’s stubborn refusal to take his father’s advice on safeguarding the succession.Earlier this year, the King had raised concerns with his son about the wisdom of William using his helicopter to fly his entire family around the country.
> An experienced pilot, William had upset the late Queen when he defied her request not to pilot his family the 115 miles from Kensington Palace to Anmer Hall, their home in Norfolk. The Queen, haunted by the 1967 crash that killed the Captain of the Queen’s Flight (although no royals were on board), ‘did not hold back’, one aide said.
> After being diagnosed with cancer, King Charles — perhaps reminded of his own mortality —echoed his late mother’s concerns. And when William refused to stop flying with his family, Charles insisted that he sign a formal document, acknowledging the risks involved and taking full responsibility for his actions.
And this
> Kate found all such talk stressful. Indeed, it got to the point where she felt she might follow Camilla (who opted to become Duchess of Cornwall) in refusing — when the time came — to be known as HRH Princess of Wales.
Which like idk Camilla didn’t become Princess of Wales for very different reasons and not so much because she felt she was being compared with Diana
I’m so curious about the research process for this book. Kate’s always kept a kind of amazingly tight circle; I can’t think of almost any verifiable leaks from her friends or family. I wonder if/how the author got people close to her to speak on the record.
About the end sentence, it’s not surprising Catherine would call Charles ‘grandpa’ like she can’t just refer to him by name when mentioning him to her children. I’m not sure why that seems to be framed as a sort of revelation or sign of how close they are (though I may be misreading that?) in the excerpt. Charles is her father-in-law and the same age as Micheal Middleton.
The glazing is crazy
Must be hard to be a calming influence when you are uptight as fuck.
I wish I was rich and disconnected enough to not only create delusional lies for myself, but actually sell them for profit as well.
