Option 1: You're an academy graduate playing for your hometown team. You are a local celebrity and loved by the masses, but trophies aren't guaranteed.

Option 2: You are an overlooked/bench player for one of the big 7 clubs. You might have some moments but you're not reason for their successes.

  1. I think it depends on the league we’re talking about, at the end of the day it’s all about money and if supporting local team is better paid than Real Madrid as some substitute mascot then sure

  2. “Big 7 clubs”? There’s no such thing.

The big clubs in Italy are Milan, juve, and inter. Roma, Lazio, Napoli, and Fiorentina (assuming that’s who your other 4 are) are miles behind.

Anyway, depends on who pays better. If being the Captain at Hellas or Cagliari pays more than being a benchwarmer at Milan, then sure.

  3. It’s odd that I think about this often, in a fashion. I would not wish to be the greatest but one of the greats. I’d want recognition. Money would matter.

  4. Nah take the money and run burn on the bench for the big bucks

  5. Definitely a hero for a small team, my favorite player is Di Natale and I’m an Udinese fan but there’s just something about that genuine love a city has for a player that stayed loyal and didn’t sell out. Maybe it’s just me.

  6. I know you’re just using him as an example but id take a career like Cuadrado’s any day. He played a role at every club except for Chelsea. His versatility and work rate allowed him to fill in where juve and inter needed him, he was beloved for Columbia and played in a bunch of international tournaments, he was on the South American cover of fifa. Idk id take a journeyman/role player career like that any day

  7. Burn the bench for the $$$, retire to my local team

  8. why is cuadrado the example of the forgotten player on a big team lol wth

  9. If I can’t be part of Inter milan successes and make fans happy then i will make them suffer 😠 !

One way or another they won’t forget about me !

  10. Option 3: a club legend for multiple clubs, like Ibrahimovic or Pirlo

  11. If I could be any footballers legacy, I would be Totti hands down.

  12. I want to play regularly in a club that not struggling to survive in the league with above average salary and a warm fanbase.

There, i will rather spend entire carrier there than in the bench of Real Madrid for whole season.
