  1. This assassination is the most important event of the 20th century, the consequences of which we feel today

  2. Ah yes, the ottomans last shot to keep being an empire.

  3. The 1914 German borders are good atheistically pleasing. No wonder they got pissed after the war.

  4. Damn Romania was so small.. I wouldn’t mind speaking hungarian now

  5. Ottomans and Austria fought for centuries only to die together as a allies. Romantic story…

  6. The most beautiful borders we ever got. Unfortunately came at the cost of unthinkable treatment and oppression of minority people.

  7. A grave miscalculation fueled by hubris backfiring badly.

  8. Then they got smashed and their territory divided. A good lesson to learn from …

  9. We’ve seen European countries take responsibility for what happened in their overseas colonies, but there is still no apology or responsibility from the colonist powers which expanded inward mainly – Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and the Russian empire, and certain comments and votes still show how this is a topic to be avoided, it’s incredibly frustrating, and it shows that the colonial powers and the public opinion was never about what was fair, or righting the wrongs, but they were going with the flow, and doing what was ‘expected’ of them. I don’t know, it just looks incredibly hypocritical.

  10. It’s amazing how much that map has changed since then.
