Time to drain the swamp
What leg does Trump have to stand on here? It happened before he came President. He can’t even argue “official acts”.
Bah gawd that’s Clarence Thomas’ music!
Does his sentencing date on 9/18 have any effect on the election?
“Not if we have anything to say about it!” -SCOTUS
This is the best tl;dr I could make, [original](https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/25/politics/prosecutors-trump-hush-money/index.html) reduced by 82%. (I’m a bot)

> Trump's lawyers argued his conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records should be vacated after the Supreme Court ruled that evidence of a president's official acts should not be used in a trial.
> Related article Trump argues New York conviction 'must be vacated' after Supreme Court immunity decision.
> "To the extent the Court concludes that any evidence of official presidential acts was improperly admitted at trial, defendant's request to set aside the verdict should be rejected on harmless-error grounds because the trial record contains overwhelming evidence of defendant's guilt," prosecutors wrote.

Remember the Iraq war and a million people died and nobody went to jail for it. But not labeling payments to a pornstar is a prison sentence level offense.
And then Clarence “Uncle” a Thomas rolls up in his motor coach and says “just hear me out….no”
Trumps got a weird case, why’s he around?
Obviously.
Wait’ll SCOTUS comes along and fucks it all up as a final coup d’etat
I mean, fuck convicted felon Trump, but New York prosecutors hardly seem like the best source here.. Throwing the local DA under the bus seems like a horrible career move.
For anyone else it’s open and shut.
For some reason Trump just gets a pass on everything.
I’m sure if it was a democrat doing all this republicans would think he should be found innocent. Right? Right?
Should. Might not. Maybe. Of course prosecutors say that. We’ll see.
By that logic everyone in prison convicted is guilty before appeal. I mean they are all guilty right? So why even let people appeal convictions?
> They specifically highlighted testimony from former White House aide Hope Hicks and tweets from Trump’s Twitter account.
I can’t believe his tweets can be treated as “official acts”. I remember one of the excuses for his outrageous tweets being that they are personal opinions, not really official or anything.
what’s the point of jury if judge can override it?
This guy has got away with fucking around his entire life and has NEVER had to find out.
Prosecutors with this much evidence against anyone else (especially a poor minority) would very probably succeed in arguing that one minor piece of it turning out to be inadmissable was harmless error and that a jury very reasonably would’ve convicted without it. But the courts, like Charlie Brown with the football, have repeatedly bent over backwards to show Trump extra deference in the hopes that he wouldn’t Tweet that they were biased against him (which of course he does anyway).
