It’s not a human right to be allowed to participate in the Olympics. I understand and agree with the Dutch that convicted people should be able to live free lives after they’ve done their time, but Olympics is just not one of them.
They should have been able to kick him out on some ethical grounds. It’s not like it’s a fringe case, he raped a 12 year old girl and knew exactly what he was doing. He got 4 years for it but only spent 1 inside. It’s crystal clear that this guy should be ostracised from society and be forced be hidden away for the rest of his life. Let him have a job cleaning toilets or felling trees or something. Apparently the pressure from society wasn’t enough to make him feel unwanted.
Representing your country at the Olympics should not be covered. It’s shameful and I wouldn’t want to be represented by this guy, the Olympics are an extension of society and it comes with more than just being good at your sport.

Eurosport has bought the rights for the Olympics so i can barely see anything. Our national broadcaster still shows the Dutch athletes so the only stream i could watch this morning featured a pedophile rapist.
