So thank you for letting me know another new & fun knowledge
Because we got food and hygiene standards?
KFC is ass. Sorry.
Probably don’t want to pay the import fees or working salaries
I want KFC and Taco Bell! Just to try them and to have some variety to choose from.
Screw KFC, we need IHOP!
Norway has high Health standards + salaries and insane import fees for food especially (in order to protect Norwegian farmers market). Growth hormones and steroids is not welcome in our diet.
For example, red bull didnt come to Norway before like 2009 or something, because of taurin levels Etcetc, so i think they had to make a Norwegian redbull version in order to be approved for the Norwegian market.
Here in Stavanger, we have a place called “Big Bird”, only fried chicken stuff. Kinda like KFC.
There are alternatives like pollo loco but doesn’t even come close to the kfc i tried in amsterdam. But then again i might have been influenced by… stuff. x)
KFC doesn’t want to use Norwegian produce, because it’s way more expensive, but they’re not allowed to import enough to set up shop without doing that.
We do have KFC copycats around. In Trondheim, we have Crispy Fried Chicken, which is pretty on par with KFC when it comes to bland-ness, and Fly Chicken, which is absolutely INSANELY good (It’s so juicy I swear they must be injecting fat into the fillets), but also quite pricy.
Honestly, KFC has not impressed me the 10 or so times I’ve tried it around the world. It’s not like the South Park episode at all. I’d say good riddance
There are quite a few fried chicken places in Oslo, and most of them far exceed KFC in quality. Even the cheaper alternatives.
We had KFC once upon a time. If you want really decent fried chicken I recommend Fly Chicken!
If we were to get any american fast food chain, I’d want taco bell
KFC isn’t food in the states… They are located in the worst parts of town. Maybe you just don’t have low income housing for them to find a location for a KFC. 🤣
We have pølsevogna
I suspect it is due to the high import taxes.
I’m American. You don’t want KFC. It’s trash.
Why would Norway want KFC?
As a norwegian that travels regularly to the US (3-4 months a year), KFC is ok but not the best. I prefer Popeyes if I’m buying fried chicken, also because of their biscuits. I’ve had the dubious fortune to try a lot of the various fast food joints, and most of then are simply “meh.”
Honestly, the Jollibee in Sacramento probably has my favorite fast food burger, the Big Yum. And they’re filipino. In’n’out has good burgers, Chick fil a is good, particularly their sauce. Wendy’s, Sonic, Jack in the Box, Carls Jr are all pretty meh.
I’ve been to Dennys, iHop, Chilis, etc. Very mediocre. The small, local burger joints and diners are so much than the big chains. A little more expensive, but worth the difference in price for me at least.
It’s because they’d have to use Norwegian chickens, which is a lot more expensive due to rules for chicken health
As a red blooded American, you dont want that crap.
Because they treat chicken so horribly to be able to sell their products that even the way we treat chickens was too expensive.
Just go to the “*basement*”-floor at OSLO CITY and buy Fried Chicken at **FLY CHICKEN**.
It’s at least twenty times better *(if not a hundred times better)* than KFC could **EVER** be!
I’m an American, trust me it isn’t good
Because they’re are usually laws concerning how much of the countries produce/ are in burgers. So let’s say Norway’s is 70% ( i dont know what it is) that means the bread, lettuce and chicken, and potatoes (fries) would probably have to be from here. But the seasoning (the 11 herbs and spices) special sauces any thing added to the bread etc would be imported. The problem is the chicken. KFC rely a great deal on battery chicken farms. All the chicken available in Norway to buy now probably wouldn’t be enough for ten KFC stores.
I dont think you guys are missing out, i heard from several people here in finland that its overhyped and actually kind of shit.
I can imagine it’s great in the US where they are allowed to put whatever delicious but cancerous poison they want in their food though
You’re honestly not missing out on much
Who wants that shit anyways
Wdym? We dont want them…
They want you to focus on your health. Cheers.
Some good options in Oslo are Maxin Fried Chicken (Grønland) or Kylling & Pizza (Sinsen) for cheaps, Fly Chicken (city center, Storo) for something pricier and nicer, and Lucky Bird/Way Down South if you don’t mind spending a decent chunk of cash. Never once had KFC and felt like it was even close to as good as it’s reputation.
Because we dont want it
Since it doesnt wanna pay a living wage or similar
Rest of the world and Iceland not having McDonalds
Too expensive to use the Norwegian chickens is my guess
KFC’s ass anyway
The reason is that the way kfc chicken is made is a fucked way
KFC sucks anyway. You guys have Popeye’s??
We don’t have kentucky
Might be much the same reason as to why we don’t have Walmart. Workers right abuses
I once got a food poisining from eating KFC’s chicken wrap. Trust me, you don’t want to eat there
We don’t want them!
American companies are usually pretty scummy about work rights and taxes
Well it’s really shitty everywhere else so I don’t really miss it
Trust me, you don’t want KFC, we have it here in Ireland and the quality has declined so badly in the last 20 years, it really is awful now, along with Burger King.
Alt pågrunn av Kåre Kyllinglår
I have heard it is because the slaughtering process KFC is using is not legal in Norway. From what I’ve heard, KFC chickens are appaerently being killed in an industrial grinder, where everything is just mashed together. I might be wrong tho.
This is so weird, I literally had this conversation yesterday with some English friends, cause they were laughing that there’s no dunkin donuts anywhere near me. And it struck me; we may not have the big franchises, but that’s helped local development flourish. So I found a couple of local sweet-snack shops and showed them pictures and translated descriptions.
It made them sad and wanting to go to Norway xD
Specifically I showed them “amundsen spesial” and “cupcake huset haugesund”.
But I’m from East Norway, and I’d take a local grill burger over any amount of mcdonalds or burger King, it doesn’t even come close
Build a KFC and put a sauna in it like Burger King did you cowards:

KFC with Norwegian prices of chicken meat would be too expensive.
