Elektriciteitscentrales op gas boekten vorig jaar recordwinsten, zegt energieregulator CREG

  1. If anyone wonders why engie wants gas powered plants and guaranteed record profits for the next decade this is it.

    Thx groen.

  2. > Het is op mijn vraag dat de CREG nu duidelijkheid heeft gebracht over waar de winsten zouden kunnen zitten.

Daytrading energy has been their business model for years now and this is public knowledge. Makes me wonder how out of touch our Minister of Energy really is.

  3. Wtf, selling the gas and buying electricity elsewhere to deliver to their clients. What makes that the electricity gets more expensive for the population, because of less production and/or more demand.

Who the fuck thought liberalisation was a good thing?

Another clear example of privatising profits and socializing losses.

Next year i bet they´ll dare to ask us for subsidies.

  4. Burn gas for electricity and this sub loses their minds. Sell gas to belgians that burn it themselves; and the sub still loses their minds.

  5. I don’t know why nobody talks about tidal energy. It’s something we do have and is reliable. Building nuclear plants will be hard because you need agreements from the neighbours, i will tell you it would already take 10 years or more to even get permits to even start planning.
A large tidal energy plant in the north sea maybe in a cooperative with the dutch/french?
If you’re going to throw money at it this seems like a solution as well.
To be worthwhile it would need to be a gigantic installation though, the ecologists won’t like it hehe. But it’s not like the north sea is a fount of sea life with packed traffic and pollution. The Dutch have experience with the sea wall they built, so…

    Just spitballing here.

  6. I still don’t get why they don’t want to go nuclear. It is clearly the greener option. People who complain about Chernobyl need to understand that the Soviet Union had outdated technology there and very shady safety regulations. Fukushima only happened because of a once in a lifetime natural disaster so I think we should be fine here.
