  1. >The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) says it has neutralised a group recruited by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) that was planning arson attacks in Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states.

    >The alleged attacks were to target high-traffic areas, according to the SBU.

    >SBU counter-intelligence agents, together with Ukrainian police officers, carried out special raids in various parts of Ukraine to prevent a series of terrorist attacks in Ukraine and in some European Union countries, the SBU press release said.

    >The masterminds of the scheme reportedly intended to target supermarkets, petrol stations, pharmacies and markets in Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.

    >The leader of the group and his accomplice were detained during a raid in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, the SBU said. The report said that the actions of the criminal group, which included 19 people in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Zaporizhzhia regions, were coordinated by Russian intelligence from a distance.

    >The suspects recruited potential arsonists from local criminal circles. To be able to travel abroad and obtain protected status in the EU, they were provided with forged documents, including passports, driving licences, diplomas and medical certificates issued in the name of other people.

    >The arsonists had to film their attacks and report back to their FSB handlers.

    >The SBU also said that Russia wanted to carry out “special information operations” to destabilise the socio-political situation in the EU.

    >The alleged leader of the criminal group and his accomplice are charged with treason and forgery. If convicted, they face life imprisonment.

Good thing we aren’t letting Ukraine be more destructive or else Russia would escalate. It seems like their unprovoked escalation is allowed.
