If your opening cerenomy doesn’t feature a choir of beheaded aristocrates singing to Gojira strapped to the outside of a castel, I don’t want it.
We had Rowan Atkinson on the piano, and Her Maj parachuting. It’s a high bar to reach, can’t blame Pierre for not living up to it.
Also, in 2012, we still had hope.

Regardless of what you think about France’s ceremony, it lacked anything iconic and will be forgotten in years to come
I unironically listen to the Underworld soundtrack and watch the Industrial Revolution scene once a year to check if I’m still alive.
Unpopular Opinion on this sub but to be honest, I rather enjoyed the ceremony overall, despite some scenes that I felt were unnecessary and overly forced , as well as moments of slowness. However, I really liked Gojira performance , the rendition of ‘La Marseillaise,’ which was beautifully performed in my eyes, the entrance of the French athletes, the horse rider on the seine river at night (although that scene was a bit too long), and the ending with Céline Dion and the passing of the flame, which I found touching. The challenge of organizing the ceremony outdoors wasn’t easy especially with the rains , but they did well, and the city provided a grandiose backdrop. But of course, this is subjective to me..
For me, the main flaw was that it dragged on, breaking the rhythm of the ceremony a bit.
Tbh, I didn’t bother watching it cause I don’t care a fuck… But now that I know it pissed off half of the world, I’m rather happy and proud.

Bo Jo and James Bond aren’t my thing like Gojira, Céline Dion and Philippe Katerine are.
The Euromusic part was a blast and the highlight of the ceremony personally.
But yeah, 2012 was ~~12 years ago wtaf~~ definitely a different vibe. COD MW2/3 was decent, and the worst thing I stressed about was getting as much As and Bs in my school exams for uni.
It’s funny how Barry becomes a M’lady guy again when we talk about France.
Why are the Brits so obsessed with their 2012 ceremony?
I never met anyone in real life who cared about this ceremony. I doubt anyone in Germany could say anything about it
Oh man I remember watching the 2012 London Olympics opening. I was but a young savage but I still remember thinking to myself “god I wish I was born there” the vibes were immaculate and the UK looked like a proper first world country with a bright future ahead of it…all that wasted potential by a government seemingly driven by the sole goal to one up Margret thatcher was certainly not what I expected.
The London closing ceremonies were better finished when One Direction performed as well
That one Pierre who was yelling about paying 30% tax over it, and Thierry Henry, have made me realize that the French are pretty funny.

The 2012 Olympics were genuinely the best it’s been in Britain as of recent. I can’t remember the country actually being unified behind anything else quite so much
