  1. I hope the authorities find out who did this quickly

  2. The results are preliminary. It’s probably a false positive. But of course the Telegraph won’t put that anywhere close to the title.

    > Preliminary tests – carried out by the police unit that deals with chemical, biological, nuclear, radiological and explosives matters – revealed a “slight positivity for the plague”, the disease that killed millions of people in Europe during the Middle Ages.

    > The local prosecutor’s office warned that the initial test results could be a “false positive” and said further analyses are being carried out. Full results are expected on Monday.

  3. It’s pretty high on the drama scale, but bubonic plague isn’t really a concerning disease now. Cured with many different antibiotics. Gotta give them style points, though.

  4. Someone ELI5. How would you lace a letter with plague. Put fleas in there? Dried bacteria? A dead rodent?

Seems like a lot of effort when you could put baking powder or any other harmless powder in there and probably get the same overreaction.

Especially when you know the Interior Minister doesn’t open his own mail.

Did the letter say something stupid like “Congratulations you now have the plague?” to terrify the secretary or mail person?

Is Wylie Coyote doing contract terrorism work now?

  5. Poison: Message sent

Polonium: I’m Vladimir Putin and you really pissed me off!

Novichock Hi I’m Mr. Putin, I’m pissed, but we’re running a little low on polonium these days

Plague: I’m a goat farmer and I am PISSED!

  6. Hey wait just a minute, I just checked my stash of plague and there was some missing and I was saving that for a…..

  7. Russia did this. Anything to destabilise the West. No sympathy for Putin. Send the letter back, “return to sender”.

  8. I saw interior minister and I can’t help thinking he’s the interior designer but for politicians

  9. Yersinia Pestis is still endemic in guess where? Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the areas surrounding the abandoned Aralsk-7 biological laboratories that used to be on an island in the now dried up Aral Sea, with the fall of the USSR the shit show was so immense that the US sent decontamination teams to clear the land, but they all know that the whole region remains extremely dangerous.

All this to say, not hard at all to get the material.

  10. Umm, who has the ability to lace a letter with the fucking “plague ‘? Wtf Is this the bubonic plague? Any chemists/ biologists/ other doctors here?
