The high artillery is making me wonder if there is a done development for targeting artillery specifically.
For a while I have been contemplating how best to take out artillery with drones. One strategy might be an FPV approach to get quite near to the target, if it’s EW protected, use object tracking. Then near the artillery the actual magnetic field o the barrel can be sensed and use of an oscillating method and sensor, the point determined when to fire a shaped charge. Use of magnetic fields is part of how NLAW works. An algo is needed to determine the best approach direction, orientation of target and where along to hit and distance.
Most FPV drones are operating over short distances, and arty being further away, so longer range FPV drone is needed and that incurs issues with signal range and jammer, so I would assume at least missions involving signal relaying drones maybe.
Or, increased disabling of EW defenses by radiation seeking drones is allowing then longer range FPV attacks.
I think today was a catch up day on some counts. Hopefully most are aware by now the morning press release is not a recital of the prior day’s enemy casualties but a summary of all completed verifications from any past action whatever the date. Although the bulk tends to be from actions in the previous 5 day period.
