
After the war, some of the 1000s of stretchers produced during WW2 to carry victims of the blitzs were later repurposed as fencing material as housing estates were fixed and rebuilt. These stretchers can still be seen in parts of London today.

I always thought they build the fencing so that it could be used as stretchers in an emergency, not the other way around. Guess you learn something new everyday
