this one’s always kinda amusing to me, cuz America got it from England, and then england adopted the word from the rest of the world and started making fun of the States for using it, like they didn’t pass it on to them
Here it is called jalkapallo 🗣️🇫🇮
Ποδόσφαιρο
You made a mistake on the armenian one
You wrote Fusbol(ֆու**ս**բոլ) instead of Futbol (ֆու**տ**բոլ)
Fútbol, originally balompié.
🇵🇱 PIŁKA NOŻNA
Nogomet 🇭🇷🇭🇷🇭🇷
The English did them dirty. They started using the word soccer, exported it to the states and mid last century they stopped using that word only to make fun of the Muricans.
Croatian is “nogomet” though.
When I went to Slovenia we crossed the border to Croatia with our Slovenian friend, and she talked about Croatian-Serbian relationships. “Yeah after the war Croatians made up 5 words and said it’s a different language haha”.
Balompié 🗣️🇪🇸💯
I was really confused I thought for a minute the Italians did not have a word for football.

I think in the beginning we also called it football, but then in the early 1900 they changed it picking the name from the Calcio Fiorentino
But Hungarian is “labdarúgó” or more colloquially “foci”
If you look at the history of the word usage in English, you’ll find that soccer is actually the original British word too but they bent the knee to Europeans and changed. South Africa and the US, however have not which makes them truer English speaker
The English made up the word soccer. It’s not fair blaming the Americans for that.
